Hello,
The other day I was at the market and on my way to exit I noticed the scratch off lottery machine where a young girl was standing. She was only about 5 or 6 years old and seemed to be near her father who was standing at the ATM machine. I thought I would take a chance and buy a ticket but I had this idea to let the little girl pick out the card thinking it would give her some happiness. I put $5 in the machine and asked the girl to pick out a card. She was very shy so I pointed to all the $5 cards and then she shyly picked one out. I confirmed it with her and then pushed the button. I started to scratch off the card and noticed that I had already won $100 but wasn't finished with the card. Little by little more $100 wins came through until it totalled $1000 which I confirmed with the cashier at customer service. Yes it was true, I had won the money but the customer service could not cash that amount. I noticed the young girl and her father on line at the customer service counter and so I wanted to reward the girl for picking out such a wonderful card. I had twenty dollars in my purse and so asked the father if it was alright to give his daughter the money and explained the story. He was more than happy to receive the money. This is an example of how happiness can spread because I was trying to bring that tiny bit of happiness to the little girl by letting her pick out the card. From that one tiny thought of happiness came a huge pile of happiness, enough to go around. More of the money went to making others happy as well and so it paid more than what it was money wise. When I give people things for free I tell them that one day they can give to someone else and that giving creates a cycle of giving that eventually comes back to the original giver.
